Nope, Pyha is not the Pakistan Youth Hostels Association, but a young Korea fella. So young, that I've been told he was in junior high when he spewed out this noxious piece of fright. I've got a few friends living in Korea and I only hear about how much they love it and how they will never come back to America. I guess Pyha dwells in some nether region in the sewage and waste that my friends are never exposed to, only to pop the sewer grate to go to high school, and then return to his personal abyss. That, or he likes playing baseball and cartoons and candy and this is some demented split personality that he's still unaware even exists. Maybe it's just me, but listening to this kinda makes me sad.

Anthony Branker – Songs My Mom Liked (2024)

i remember getting this because of that rumor but being unable to find anything else. i highly doubt this is an eleven year old but then again, stranger things have happened.
ReplyDeleteWell, it might be a rumor, but Korea does have a pretty decent Black Metal scene (check Cosmic Hearse for examples). Whoever it is, there's a new album under the moniker that I've yet to hear. What's up with metal hoaxes? It's funny that there's so many and once I put together a panel at a regional MLA conference on hoaxes/frauds/phonies and no one proposed anything music related.
ReplyDeletei wrote in one of my posts about an unknown album that "this is the trouble and also the magic with black metal, we are forced to create a lens from a purely arbitrated form of communication", same goes with noise and most other lo-fi "what is the source of sound" works. i'd need to hear more to give a good basis. i know of a few excellent south korean bands actually right before i even found out about the hearse, i discovered warpeal and ares and such. like you said, unless this is some kid with a split personality or it's striborg's son with a hell of a weird personal aesthetic stranded in a seperate marsh...
ReplyDeleteBocphet,
ReplyDeleteI know he has another (newer) album, but I have yet to hear it. Check out cosmichearse.blogspot.com for more Korean black metal.
WD,
ReplyDeleteI'm having a hard time imagining Sin Nanna being able to track anything down in the wilds of Tasmania to actually procreate with. The guy lives in a shack.
What if his voice cracks in the middle of a song? How much more depressed can he get?
ReplyDeleteNewer lp on youtube.
Oh! I am really impressed with the website below. I wish all genre databases were so well organized & informative.
