Poison Dwarfs-Wechselbad

Yes, it is from 1980's German (that's a good thing in my book) but it doesn't really sound like all the bands you could rattle off from that time period in that particular region of the globe. I just think this one would pair nicely with the Blago Bung album below. It's more synthy and experimental but it's also one of those cassettes that people from very disparate interests could find enjoyment. And with things being as shitty as they are I think we could all use a little bit of that in our lives. Too bad it is in such a grotesque form.

Die Haut-Schnelles Leben

A Lucid Direction.

"But now, Hans," said a Chicago butcher to a Dutch farmer, "how can I find the hog that I have bought?"
"You comes mit mine farm."
"But how shall I find your farm?"
"You shoost goes dot Clark Sdhreet out and turns to de right till you comes to a fence mit a hole in it, den you turns up to de right for a while till you sees a house and a big hog in de yard. Dot's me."

Pack

Today I had to face a classroom full of blank stares and try to get them to talk about Sir Philip Sidney. That was followed by a class who refused to even answer yes/no questions. To combat this plague of apathy I decided to play this fun, little record. There's some talk that they were the first German punk band, but I can't tell you if this is true. I can tell you that it was includes a former member of Amon Duul II. And that'll seem pretty odd once you hear the direction taken here.

The 39 Clocks-Pain it Dark

I don't know how popular nuggets style 60s rock was in German when these guys released their debut (1981, I think). I'm sure V.U. the Monks, and rock that G.I.s brought over still had some resonance. So it doesn't seem all that surprising that these guys would take up that sound, slow it down, drug it out, and fuck it with some buzzy electronics. Finally, these guys are getting some hype. Much to late, as it typically the case.

Scorpions-Fly to the Rainbow

I originally thought of posting Virgin Killer, but then I was afraid that there might be an influx of pedos stopping by around these parts (you can find the cover elsewhere if that's your thing). And really, that is a good album, but I prefer this one. And I'm sure plenty will scoff and talk shit about the Scorps, but those fools don't know shit. I can't really get into their whistle fest, feel good, Berlin wall tearing down ballads, but the early works rule. It's not Kraut rock, nor cock rock, just really good heavy German rock. No whistling either. That's always a good thing.
