The Velvet Underground-Live at the Gymnasium (1967)

I've got a mountain of V.U. bootlegs, all of various quality. This one, maybe the most well known one too, is still one of the best in terms of sound quality and content. The debut of Sister Ray is definitely a selling point, as is the inclusion of I'm not a Young Man Anymore (sounds like something I'd write). If you don't have this already, it's a no brainer. But I'm guessing someone with as fine taste as yours already has a copy of this.

Big Black-Sound of Impact

So here's a classic bootleg from a classic band. Still here in Chicago, so why not post something by the Chicago band that probably most affected my musical taste. I'm pretty sure this was compiled from a few shows in 1986, but I might be off on that. But lord, this one just slays. All the classics are here, and they might even top the studio versions in terms of intensity. I don't think I need to explain much more about how crucial this group was. So I won't. Just grab it while you can.

Birthday Party-Hacienda, Manchester, UK, 1982

It's funny that considering I have so many live bootlegs (thank you internet) I don't think I've posted a single one. So, I might as well start it off with one of my all time favorites. And this isn't just because Roland Howard died recently (though I will definitely miss his amazing guitar work). Nobody needs a write up on the Birthday Party, right? I can say, this concert tackles a bunch of classics and just fucking destroys them. And the sound quality is excellent. That means there's no reason not to download this. Nick Cave states at the beginning, "You really don't deserve this." He's right, but, what can I say, I'm a giver.
