Louise Huebner-Seduction Through Witchcraft

I think sometimes my friends are confused on how a guy like me has dated some girls who are admittedly out of my league. Well, I suppose it's time to reveal my secret. It totally works. Place a live turtle under your bed and put some mint leafs in your pillow case....

Shadow Ring-City Lights

Shadow Ring...dare I try to describe this band? Dare I eat a peach? I guess this is going to be something that no matter how I describe it, it will definitely sound worse than how it does, if that makes any sense. There's lots of clanking pot-like percussion, detuned string buzz, broken toy pianos, spoken word vocals delivered with a thick British accent, odd ephemera, etc. I guess that's a few of the sounds often associated with Shadow Ring. Yeah, I can see why that wouldn't sound like it would appeal to many, but really this sounds much better than it should. I guess it just proves how smart these fuckers are.

Chris Morris-Blue Jam

This is often described as ambient radio comedy, and I guess that's what I'll go with too. If you have any interest in British comedy (and if you don't than go watch the Hangover or some other frat boy bullshit), than this will probably be for you. This is from the guy who had a sketch called "Christ's Cock and Balls" so you know it can't be all that bad. Brian Eno, Labradford, Aphex Twin, are just some of the artists these surreal sketches are laid over. Why the hell are we content to have such stupid comedies when things like this are successful elsewhere. Instead we have Judd Apatow and other half tards that churn out the same formulaic garbage. People, wise up. We can actually have humor again. So take off that stupid white baseball cap. Swap out those cargo shorts. Tuck in that button down shirt. And just hide that tribal tattoo (ooh, so tough). It's time to stand up and demand comedies that don't treat us like the idiots that we are.

Emo Phillips-E=MO2

Why is everyone in such an uproar about emo today? On other blogs (this really only occurs on "punk" blogs) I see several post decrying emo, even calling for the death of emo For some reason these are always by e.s.l. authors. But I don't get it, I think he's hilarious. Okay, I'm not really that dense. Joking aside, I figured I should post another Illinois classic. And he's from fucking Downers Grove of all places. Despite the popularity peaking around U.H.F. era, Emo's still at it and still a nutter. So have a laugh on me.

Aleister Crowley-The Great Beast Speaks

I figured since I've posted so many Kenneth Anger related works that references Crowley, I might as well put this up. It's not a great album, but more of an interesting artifact that I figure at least a few dark souls will enjoy. I honestly know very little about Crowley occult practices, though I sure a cursory google search will lead to some rather complicated explanations. So go ahead and search if you want. These recordings are just super lo fi chantings and incantations, that sounds so foreign that it can be hard to tell that he's speaking in English. Sometimes, I honestly think it might be a whole other language. I can't tell. Is it weird to find this to be a relaxing listen?

Venom-Live at City Gardens 7"

Yes, yes, Venom rule. But this isn't their typical sound. Instead, this is a live recording of Cronos's lovely stage banter with all the songs removed. As you can see on the flyer above, Venom toured with Black Flag, whose roadie, Joe Cole, recorded these hilarious stage antics. Thurston Moore later put this out on his label, and I think the Beastie Boys might have even sampled it. And note that evil ticket price.

Iceberg Slim-Reflections

As we all know by now, pimpin' ain't easy, but it certainly can be entertaining. Author of Trick Baby and numerous other classics, Iceberg, here recounts his exploits in the world of female coercion and fancy dressing. Oddly enough, this was re-issued on Henry Rollins Infinite Zero label. I'm missing the connection there.
