Here's an album that'll make you want to dance like a gorilla and slug some poor sap in the face. Normally, when this comes on my speakers I'll flail around like some spasmodic (good thing I live alone since I couldn't take the embarrassment of someone seeing me convulse in that way). This reminds me of bIG fLAME (already posted) in many ways. This Scottish band was so great that I actually get angry when I think about how under rated they remain. But I am one to flip my wig at the slightest instance. Just ask that stupid broad who almost hit my car twice today in a parking lot. This dummy threated to call the cops on me for "slander." But I don't have time to explain to idiot hicks what that word even means so she got off with just a dressing down. Anyways, this is a good un. But what does 'ontae' mean?
Again, I still cannot understand how this band is one of the most downloaded of all the things I have posted. I'm not trying to dismiss their greatness or anything, I just don't get it. I'm sure people all over the internet have posted their work before I've gotten around to it. I'm still confused as to how anyone even found this blog in the first place. But since people seem to want more Cardiacs, then I guess I should keep posting more. I think I might have all of their albums, so eventually (assuming people keep downloading) I'll keep posting them. And yes, you should have them all too.
And this is my gift to everyone else since the Cardiacs seem to be much more well loved than I would have ever imaged. To my surprise, my last post on them is one of the most downloaded albums from this site. I never would have guess that so many enjoy this bizarro, spasmodic pop. But good for you. Nice to know that people are interested in things beyond whatever pitchfork's flavor of the week is. I don't even know what that flavor is any more. Clear maybe. Anyways, enjoy the holiday.
Not too long after the awesome Swing Kids, who added Joy Division like post punk to the San Diego Hardcore spazz, broke up, the Crimson Curse emerged. They're not totally removed from the Swing Kids sound, but the addition of buzzy synths did mark a new direction. It's not the Screamer or anything, but this one still has a synth punk charm. Dudes later went on to form the Locust (ugh) and the Album Leaf (double ugh) and something like 10,000 other bands. But this is the one to hear. I still think this one holds up well, which is a lot considering how much from that time sounds really dated. But his might just be nostalgia talking.
