It’s been some times since I’ve posted any Kiwi, which is
always a shame. So here’s a good’un
that’s a little lesser known than some of the big names, despite having
connections with bands like Flies Inside the Sun and, my most loved,
Doramaar. Knowing the names behind this
project (do your own research tubs) you’ll know what to expect. I’m guessing you’ve set those expectations
pretty high. Don’t worry, this isn’t
going to be as disappointing as that last girl you dated (probably a few years
ago at this point) who you really thought was amazing because she listening to
Giallo soundtracks and had an interesting tattoo. After a few months all the haze cleared and
you realized she was just as big of a loser as you are and were massively
crushed. Well now, it won’t be like
that.

The Kiwi Animal-Music Media
Hung out with a friend last night that I barely ever see. And he's a big advocate for all things New Zealand. So for that guy I'll post this though I'm sure he already has it. But for the rest of yins this is a really underrated batch of folkish, deconstructed pop done up in that kiwi fashion. At it's core there's a girl, a dude (previously in Shoes this High), and an acoustic guitar. Typically, this triad is supplemented by other sound sources, but it still has that olde folk undercurrent. I've been trying to figure out why this band isn't discussed when kiwi legends are listed. I still have no answer. Here

Alpaca Brothers-Legless E.P.
It's been a few days since I last posted because all of my time now is devoted to viewing the entire criterion collection. I'm half way through and there really hasn't been anything yet that I really hate. Although I'm not sure if I can make it through Armageddon and the Rock (Fuck you Michael Bay and your bullshit movies). But in the mean time, here's a couple of quick posts since I'm sure there's several people just dying to read what I write. It's been some time since I posted anything from the great country of New Zealand. So here's some more for you. It's not a super rarity, but a pretty damned good & underrated slice of kiwi pop action. I guess this is for Rich, but I'm sure he already has it.Here

Shoes This High
All the young lovers can go fuck themselves today. This is one for the sad old gits who plan on spending the eve with their cat and a pizza. But this isn't some downer things to get all teary about. Instead, this is another Kiwi classic that combines the pop you'd expect from something out of New Zealand with a fractured punk funk that might be more at home on the Ron Johnson label. There's also a bit of the British D.I.Y. sound going on too. But this is by no means derivative. Let this give your earholes a gentle rape tonight and it'll still love you in the morning. Just don't expect any breakfast. Here
