dISEMBOWELMENT-Transcendence into the Peripheral

My mouth is still tingling from that pepper spray spritzing I received earlier in the day and I'll admit it's a bit enjoyable. But numbness, whether it be in the mouth or the soul, comes with the territory when teaching in my school. And numb is actually the type of non-feeling I wish I could only experience in this topsy-turvy mess of a week. Who thought stasis would ever be so desirable? I'm thinking about digging a ditch and bedding down there for a while. And as the dirt pillow absorbs my tears I'll think of this gloomy antipodean curiosity. Most will hate this but most people hate me, so why should I bother trying to please everyone/anyone? Snail paced doom that is surprisingly meditative an soothing. The perfect score to that final relaxation.

Black Sabbath-John Peel Sunday Show

Every time I post something live people seem to be interested. At least that's what the download stats are suggesting. And my life is that dull that I actually do check them. Hey, I want to know what it is that you humans are interest in so I can at least try to post some things that you won't laugh at. No need for me to say anything here other than it's Black Sabbath. And it's on Peel's show. C'est tout.

Asbestosdeath-Dejection/Unclean

Who doesn't love Sleep. Not the act, airhead, the band. I fucking hate the fact that I actually have to waste several hours each day laying in a bed. Ask anyone who knows me and they'll tell you that if I could never go to sleep again and not completely fall apart, I'd do it. Sleep, the band, however, are fucking great and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. So if you like them, then here's an interesting artifact. Combining both of their 7"s, this cd will be of intrigue to anyone who wants to find the seeds that begat the almighty Sleep.

Corrupted-Se Hace Los Suenos Aseinos

Some seriously heavy and lumbering shit. Not too surprising that it's from Japan, right. I mean, there's already a precedent for that. Sung in Spanish though. Vuh? Not sure how that came to be. Not really to interested in doing that quick google search to find the answer because it really doesn't matter. Regardless of their motives, the decision pays off. I think this one might be a Thanksgiving hit to play as your family gathers around the fire and plays Jenga. Rumor has it that this band has a big granny following., and you know those Q-Tip heads are real fans.

Journey to Ixtlan

Is it weird that it's a beautiful, cool night, I'm drinking a cold beer, and yet, I'm sitting here sweating my ass off? Dunno how that happens, but that feeling is reminding me of all those years getting my mind melted in the New Mexican desert. Had it existed when I lived out there, it probably would have been the perfect soundtrack. Like that last Conifer post, this one does a little genre bustin'. Metal, psych, New Age (?) and so many more sounds get the old blender toss and comes out not sucking. Huh, looking at this and the last post I'm starting to fear that this is look like an Aquarius list. Albeit one with much shittier write ups. Well, I aim to disappoint.

Skepticism-Aes

Things have gotten a little light around here. And while no one ever downloads any of my metal posts, I figure I going to post one anyways. I mean, what is more egotistical then writing a fucking blog. It's super fucking humid here, and an album like this can really ice the marrow. This behemoth is one sloooooow, chilling track that I find utterly relaxing. Not unlike a comforting drone album, I can put this on and feel the arctic blast hit my already too cold heart.

Pussygutt-She Hid Behind Her Veil

Metal name-check. Metal looking cover-check. One 45 minute instrumental doom dirge-check mate. I guess this could almost be consider more classical than metal, but that's the problems with any taxonomic system; there's always far too many exceptions that make rigid categorization impossible. So give the classifications a rest would ya, classification master and just enjoy the beauty herein. Extra points go to the band for being from Boise.

Electric Wizard-Dopethrone

I normally go on about how I like this or that album cover, but fucking christ, look at this thing. Satan smoking a bong. I don't think an album cover could possibly explain a band's sound more clearly than this. The whole stoner rock genre can be real tired and repetitive, but this one stands out to me. The Sabbath worship is present, but unlike other bands, these Brits add plenty of their own vision, creating a heavy as shit psychedelic morass. You almost feel high just listening to this. Smoke It.

Trouble-Psalm 9

Dooooooooooooooooooooooom. A stone classic. Coming out of fucking Aurora, these dudes drew from Sabbath & Priest to create a solid, doomy monster. Unfairly hyped as a Christian metal band, Trouble garnered respect but not too many fans. Yes, there are Christian elements, but it's not overwhelming. And Eric Wagner's vocals might turn people off, in that they're a kinda '80s, but don't let that scare you off from this work of brilliance.
